The Situtation
The Diocese needed a modern platform that could grow across very different operational areas
The Diocese of Calgary wanted to modernize key diocesan processes without forcing every office and parish into a single large-scale transformation at once.
The long-term opportunity was broader than one department. Salesforce and MF360 could become a shared platform supporting central administration, compliance-related work and eventually parish operations.
The challenge was determining how to introduce that change in a way the organization could absorb and sustain.
The Constraints
Each area had different needs, stakeholders and levels of readiness
The Bishop’s Office, Chancery and Safe Environment functions each manage different types of information and workflows.
Introducing too much change at once would have increased implementation risk, placed additional pressure on staff and made adoption more difficult.
The Diocese therefore needed an approach that could deliver useful capability in stages while allowing lessons from each phase to shape what came next.
Meribah Flow's Approach
Start at the centre, establish the foundation, then expand deliberately
Meribah Flow worked with the Diocese through a phased implementation.
The platform was first introduced in the Bishop’s Office, establishing an initial Salesforce foundation and proving the model in a focused operational setting.
From there, the implementation expanded into the Chancery, followed by Safe Environment, with each phase adding new processes, users and organizational capability.
Rather than treating the roadmap as a series of disconnected projects, each stage built on the same underlying Salesforce and MF360 platform.
With those central diocesan functions established, the Diocese has now moved into a parish pilot, testing how the shared platform can support local parish operations before considering broader rollout.

Core diocesan functions moved onto a shared foundation
The Bishop’s Office, Chancery and Safe Environment now build on the same Salesforce and MF360 platform. Each phase extended the Diocese’s existing investment rather than introducing another standalone system.

Change was introduced at a manageable pace
The phased approach allowed new capabilities to be established and learned before the next area was added. This reduced the organizational risk of a large simultaneous rollout and gave the Diocese opportunities to refine processes and implementation practices along the way.

The platform is now extending toward parish use
With central diocesan functions established, Calgary has progressed to a parish pilot. The pilot provides a controlled way to test how the platform can support parish operations and gather real-world feedback before any broader expansion.
Reflection
Sustainable transformation does not need to happen all at once
The Calgary implementation reinforced the value of sequencing change deliberately.
Beginning with focused diocesan functions allowed the platform, implementation approach and organizational confidence to mature together.
Each phase created a stronger foundation for the next, making expansion possible without requiring the Diocese to restart its technology strategy every time a new operational area was introduced.
